Aspiring Finance executives spend years developing their technical capability with hopes of landing a coveted seat in the executive boardroom. However, few know how to navigate the rough waters to achieve that dream, and even fewer have a clear idea of what awaits them when they make it. Finding the “Suite” Spot offers a rare, authentic, and reflective window to the inner workings and boardroom dynamics confronted by ANY C-Suite leader, particularly CFOs. And it does that by sharing real life experiences.

Executives agree. Their agenda has become increasingly diverse, fast paced, complex and change oriented. Finance executives must now support the company’s strategic, commercial and operating needs while championing traditional principles like ethical decision making, compliance, responsible corporate citizenship and governance. Through a symbiosis of 1) essential principles of conduct and 2) real-life experiences, the book is as much a reference as a guide for Finance professionals with long term C-Suite aspirations. Analogies from the sport of golf are used to capture essential guidance for landing the coveted C-Suite in a fun and relatable way. As in golf, hitting the “sweet spot” is that rare moment when the player’s tools, training and practice, and softer skills like focus, commitment and mental strength come together to produce a magical feeling – the perfect shot. Sometimes, it’s simply blind luck. When it comes to landing a coveted C-Suite career, you should never have to rely on blind luck alone to achieve that dream. The book invites you to practice and prepare by digesting others’ executive real-world experiences and then deciding for yourself.

With 30+ years of executive postings worldwide, Con Constandis shares exciting and humorous experiences, from building a growth strategy in China to losing a $10 bet at a board meeting. Learnings are complemented by contemporary insights from the world of academia as university professor Matthäus Tekathen joins the conversation to distill guiding principles and lessons learnt for readers. With contributions from Ian Gergovich, a global expert in the field of taxation and pension fund management, readers are treated to the benefits of first-hand learnings from nearly 100 years of collective, global experience.

Finding the “Suite” Spot sprang from an innovative and successful curriculum launched by Con, Matthaus and Ian in 2024, for one of North America’s leading MBA programs. To continue advancing an agenda focused on tomorrows’ leaders, royalties from the book launch will be committed to initiatives that develop “experiential learning” for business schools across America.
