Scot Loveland isn’t like the other kids. His drive to see what’s around the next corner has led to a life that is…outside the box. In his first book, “My Sister Says I Can Do Better: Stories of Adventure and Lessons Learned from a Life Well-Lived”, Scot shares his unique views from the road less traveled. Never afraid to suck at something new, it’s almost easier to list the things he hasn’t experienced than those that he has. Luckily, he thought it was a good idea to document some of those adventures for the enlightenment of future generations. Whether it’s a story from the last stop in the educational superhighway before you hit the prison system; his thoughts on the ultimate adventure that is parenthood; or a detailed description of his only attempt at a 100 mile trail race, his essays are humorous, inspiring, damn entertaining and often fall squarely into the category of “Misadventure makes for the best stories”.

Scot Loveland

Scot Loveland has never shied away from the scenic route either in his personal or professional life. Scot has been a whitewater kayaking instructor, magazine writer, worked on two film productions, climbing and rappelling instructor, US Army linguist and military Intelligence specialist, undercover narcotics agent, tower climber, business consultant, private investigator, adjunct college professor, armed and unarmed tactics instructor, project manager for SOCOM training exercises, Director of Operations for several companies, contractor for the FBI, and perhaps the most dangerous of all: High school teacher. He has a degree in History from the University of Mount Union and was an Honors Graduate of the Defense Language Institute. When not trying to discover hat is just around the next corner professionally, he enjoys spending time with his lovely and understanding wife of 34 years, Jacki, and his “me 2.0”; their daughter, Chloe, who is an improved version of him in every way.

Despite the fact he isn’t very good at most of the athletic endeavors he has enjoyed over the years (okay, enjoy is a very strong word), he has pursued ultra running, triathlon, mountain biking, backpacking, bikepacking, adventure motorcycling, and whitewater kayaking. He is often joined in these activities by the two bestest puppers in the world (yes, they are! They are big sweeties!): Alice the Wonder Dog and Ta-Ter the Destroyer. Despite his lack of talent, he has managed to attract sponsors who apparently appreciate his unique ability to document silly adventures to include a full Ironman, a 100-mile trail race, a 24-hour bike ride, and an upcoming motorcycle adventure to the Arctic circle.

“My Sister Says I Can Do Better” is his first book.
