Barbara Carroll
Barbara Carroll has developed several reading and story book projects for the Children’s Literature and education market. Barbara’s love of the lyrical nature of rhyming books as a child led her to write several stories, several of which were previously published, and she hopes to be able to republish them with updated edits. Barbara’s interest in the integration of non-fiction elements into entertaining and whimsical stories is at the heart of her current writing projects. The educational and teaching aspects of her book projects offer enhanced opportunities for teachers and educators for use in classrooms. Barbara also has developed literacy and writing workshops for in-services and presentations. Barbara has over 35 years in the field of education, with a Bachelor of Science degree, and a Master of Arts degree in Education. After teaching in the primary grades for five years, Barbara embraced the growing field of after-school supplemental educational tutoring services and joined a company on the ground floor as they expanded into the Chicago market. For twenty-five plus years Barbara ran a successful learning center business in the Chicago metropolitan area. She worked directly with students of all ages, K-12 and adult learners, for both the private and public sectors. In 2014, she left the learning center and Chicago area behind to move back to Iowa and her hometown, Burlington, IA. She is currently working at Southeast Iowa Community College in the Academic Achievement Center, and for the Burlington Community School District teaching part-time while continuing to write and promote her children’s books.
