Planet Earth is a wonderful place! It is the only object in the universe where everything necessary for life, as we know it, exists. All the clean air, clean water, good soil, and systems for handling "waste" operate on their own - day in and day out. Up until now, we haven't even had to know how they work. For the most part, they just function as we go about living our lives.

Unfortunately, the human impact on our global environment has gotten so large, we must now learn how our planet works. That is why Make Earth Sustainable Again (MESA) was written. It is the story of how our global ecosystem functions. It continually provides for all our basic needs. MESA is also the story of how our sheer numbers, consumption habits, and wealth hording are threatening our very existence.

MESA also provides the roadmap we must follow to restore our planet to what it once was and can again be like. Read it carefully. Think about what can be. MESA provides the knowledge for change. It can also provide the moral vision for what we seek to accomplish. What we love is who we are. That attitude can help us renew the sense of community we so desperately long for - a community of love, justice, and mercy.

As your author, I have literally stood on the mountain top and seen the promised land. I have seen a world where we finally figured out how to get along with each other. I have seen a world where we learned how to imitate what nature does and has always done - a world where we produce the goods and services we need, and recycle what used to be "waste." This is not simply a dream. It can become reality. Keep hope alive!
