Sarah Kurker
Sarah F. Kurker, MSW, LICSW is an oncology social worker. Her career has included working at University Medical Center, Tucson, Arizona in pediatric bone marrow transplantation (BMT). She also worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on the colorectal oncology team. Throughout her career Sarah has created evidence-based group support for oncology patients and their families. She continues to provide this support to young adults with cancer in Tucson, Arizona. Sarah incorporates integrative health into her psychosocial support; including positive self-talk, mindfulness and movement.
She is proud to be a part of published research focusing on grief and loss. Sarah is proud to have been a senior research specialist at the Arizona Cancer Center and completed studies looking at quality of life of cancer patients.
Sarah is a faculty instructor at Arizona State University School of Social Work and Integrative Health Initiative. She has been teaching students for over twenty years connecting clinical work to curriculum. Sarah is passionate about teaching her students self-care in the field.
Sarah's first book publication was distributed through BMT Centers in the United States, free for all families. She interviewed families to get their advice for other's having to go through it. Her second book is a clinical book for social workers on her work with young adults with cancer.
She feels very honored to have supported many people going through cancer.
